If you have a diabetic cat (or dog) look no further than Andrea!! She was truly instrumental in saving my kitty boy with twice daily insulin shots and TLC. After twelve months on insulin, Harley went into remission and has been a non-diabetic for 4 months.
Did I mention I am a flight attendant with a varied schedule? If it hadn’t been for Andrea’s flexibility, great rates, kindness and most importantly TOTAL DEPENDABILITY, I honestly don’t know what I would have done. He never missed one shot in that whole time we managed him….365 days X 2 = 730 shots!
Also, not many petsitters will give injections and come a bit later in the evening as I so needed. She really worked with me. We are most grateful. Thank you, Andrea!
Andrea and her walkers are top notch. My partner and I have used Andrea to walk Lois and have nothing but great things to say. Always on time, always responsive and very easy to work with. When we head out on vacation she boards our dog with her other dogs which makes us feel much more comfortable. She takes great care of Lois. Have nothing but great things so say about this business.

Andrea is awesome! She took good care of Niko my little Yorkie for a week. She is very caring and always kept me up to date with his daily activities via text. She also brought in my mail and left notes on Niko’s daily acitivities. I am soo glad I met Andrea because boarding is not an option for me. He prefers to be home and take walks during the day. A Bark and Meow is my go to source for pet sitting.

I have a blind Boston Terrier named Reggie. Because of his blindness I’ve been apprehensive to go travel much as he takes a little extra TLC. Last year I met Andrea and I boarded him with her. He did so well and I could really tell that he felt comfortable with her and I knew he had been taken such good care of. I’ve since boarded him a couple of times and most recently Andrea has started walking him everyday. She is always right on time and gives Reggie the special attention that he needs. I can’t thank you enough Andrea. I will refer all my friends with pets to use your services as needed. You are wonderful.
When our work schedules changed and we needed to find a dog walker – our goal was to find a local small business near our home in Rogers Park. To our delight, we came across Andrea and A Bark & A Meow. The prices are reasonable and competitive, and Andrea has been so accommodating of our fluctuating schedules and needs. Best of all, our high energy terrier Edna is satisfied with her daily walks and her new walker friend!
I started using a Bark and A Meow to walk my two dogs mainly because they were extremely reasonable in price and when I met Andrea I knew she’d take good care of them! Shiela has been coming to my house every day for the past couple of months and I could not be happier. My dogs are like my babies so it’s nice to have someone you can trust to take good care of them. I would recommend A Bark and A Meow to anyone!
Andrea is lovely! We have four cats, three of which are special needs and need meds, and Andrea consistently goes above and beyond to care for them. Once, she actually went into the city for one of our cats because he ran out of heart meds. She also texts regularly to let us know how the furries are doing when we’re out of town. Our travel plans are also notoriously changeable and Andrea has been very flexible with us. It is also a relief that when we come home the cats don’t seem utterly starved for attention… she has obviously spent time with them and given them some lovin’. Of course, they missed us and it shows when we get home, but they aren’t desperately starved for attention as I’ve seen them after we’ve used other pet sitters. And did I mention her rates are very reasonable? Overall, A Bark and A Meow is a great pet sitting service.
Andrea was great. She stepped right in and took care of our 11 year old siberian husky “puppy” When Andrea comes over Sasha get very excited and cant wait to get outside with her. Her prices are very reasonable and she is very reliable. Highly recommended.
Andrea at A Bark And A Meow has been our cat-sitter of choice for the last 3 years. She has been amazing to take care of our two cats, even on short notice. As nervous new puppy owners, we were understandably worried about finding a suitable dog walker for our hyper golden lab, Clyde. We had had less-than-great experiences in the past with other dog walkers for our older dog. That’s why it was such a relief to find Andrea. She is truly a person who treats your dog as she would her own. Clyde loves his daily walk routine, and our older dog Chloe loves the extra attention that Andrea gives her as well! And of course, we love the daily updates on our dogs during the walks. It is refreshing to have someone so close that we can trust with our beloved pets. Thanks Andrea!
My 4lbs yorkie poodle mix has been going to A Bark & A Meow for about a year and he loves it. Andrea is a close 2nd to me in the people ranking. He has so much fun and wears himself out while he is there, not to mention he is doing so much better on his house breaking as well as his overall behavior. I love Andrea and so does Topaz!

We have had the pleasure of Andrea being our dog-sitter for several years. We began using her services because she would come to our house for our older dog and take our two puppies (then) to board overnight at her home. When we looked at other dog-sitting services, no one would provide such convenient service. The service she provides is above and beyond what I have experienced with other dog-sitting companies for several reasons. First, as I mentioned, she picks up and drops off our dogs. This has come in handy some many times when we have inevitably experienced cancelled flights or car trouble. She has always accommodated our last-minute needs, which provided us with much needed peace of mind! Secondly, she treats the dogs like they are members of her family, not just “her job”. When she boarded our dogs over Christmas, they came home with doggie toys that she had given them as presents! Third, Andrea is extremely conscientious about providing updates either via telephone calls and/or texts on our dogs’ well-being. Lastly, her price is very reasonable, which is very important in our current economy. Overall, Andrea has allowed us to travel without worrying about the well-being of our dogs, which is exactly what we are wanting while on vacation!
Stephen and I have been lucky enough to have Andrea and now Shelia walk our dog since November 2009, when we got him from a shelter. They do a great job! Binny is excited everyday. Our neighbors have commented on the great interaction Shelia has with Binny. On the occasion I have been home, Binny is so excited when Shelia shows up to take him on his walk. We highly recommend A Bark and A Meow to anyone who has long hours and has a pet at home. It puts us at ease when we are away!
I would suggest that anyone use Andrea instead of any other dog services/sitters. My friend told me about her since she has been watching his dog for years now. I went on vacation out of the country and Andrea watched Sparty for me. She took great care of her and was in contact with me the whole time with updates. I love how she comes to pick her up and drop her off. That is very helpful when you have flight delay problems like I had! She took Sparty on walks and to the dog park. I really like how she will board dogs overnight with her. It makes me feel better to know that my dog is with someone who will love her while I am gone and take care of her, instead of being in a crate and lonely. Thanks Andrea!!!! Love, Cheri and Sparty
Andrea and A Bark and a Meow are really unique in that Andrea and her walkers will take your dog and board them in their home. The price (which is super reasonable) includes pick up and drop off and unlike commercial boarding places, is a charge for 24 hours not check in during the afternoon until check out in the morning. My dog MUCH prefers to stay with Andrea and her dogs when we go away as opposed to other options. The other guys (sounds like smooch!) always set her potty training back since they don’t take the dogs out. Check out her prices for walks too, really reasonable. Andrea is responsible, responsive and very sweet. 5 stars, highly recommended!
April and I would strongly recommend A Bark and A Meow to anyone. The care, attention, service, and love for our little Sofa girl is amazing. I love that Andrea takes the time to know Sofa’s quirks – dislikes cold weather, the mud, rain, and the dog next door – their attention is amazing. April and I couldn’t be happier!
Andrea has been looking after our pup Dempsey for over 4 years. I can’t sing her praises enough! Dempsey is always happy when I get home. Andrea has helped out with more than her fair share of Dempsey clean-ups (he’s very mischevious – he’ll shred tisses, and get into the garbage – and the fridge!! – if we forget to “lock” them up). We rely on Andrea for walking, occasional feeding, and boarding. She’s also been great with Dempsey’s occasional ear and eye problems – administering meds and always leaving updates for us. Andrea has so much love for Dempsey and ALL the pets she cares for and it truly comes through when you speak with her, get texts to check in/update, and in her little notes she leaves. Andrea has been great for my four pets, Winnie, Midnight, Lari, and Nellie. I work odd hours and she has been very flexible with scheduling late night walks and weekend visits. She also has been a great help whenever I go out of town. She really loves animals and gives all of my pets lots of love when she visits. She also gives me text updates to let me know that all is well. I am so glad that I found her shortly after I moved back to Chicago.
I have been living in the Chicago area since August… a temporary stay for a couple months. With the travel I do for work, it was most important to find a dog walker to relieve my 12 year old boxer mix Mason during the work day. A friend of a friend uses Andrea, A Bark and A Meow daily and recommended her. She was a breath of fresh air from the minute i spoke with her. Very willing to fit another pup into her routine… at a moments notice, too!!! Andrea is very reliable, always leaves detailed updates, texts and calls on how Mason is doing. Treats Mason to a Doggie Massage from time to time, too. He is always relaxed when I return. :0) Recently, Mason got very ill and was hospitalized for 4 days. Andrea called or texted daily, sometimes more than once to check on my boy. She was very encouraging and positive, what i needed at this difficult time. She quickly agreed to fit him in for two walks a day now that he has kidney problems. Mason and I are lucky to have found Andrea while being in Chicago for a short time… we wish we could take her back to Florida with us!!! You will love her and your pet will definitely let out “A Bark or A Meow” when she shows up!!! :0) Will will miss you!
Andrea has been wonderful with my 1.5 yr old lab Buehrle. When we first got Buehrle as a 8-week old pup, I searched everywhere for a dog walker for him that was reasonably priced. We found A Bark and A Meow and it as been the best thing ever! She loves Buehrle and more importantly Buehrle loves her! We first did puppy walks, then graduated to once a day walks, and now we also do doggie daycare. Buehrle also has boarded with her. I was worried about leaving him, but with Andrea I knew he was in great hands. She always calls and texts me to let me know how he is and if he is being good. [He sometimes can be sneaky!

I have a vey elderly cat (20+ years) with health issues. The first time I needed a sitter was an emergency and Andrea stepped in to care for Skeeter on a moments notice with no qualms. The care was excellent and I think Skeeter, whom I normally boarded at a kennel, was relaxed and happier than any other time I had left her. Now, Andrea arrives every weekday afternoon to provide her with her midday feeding. Recently, we went through a round of behavioral issues. Andrea went the extra mile, did some research, and recommended some strategies which are working to correct the issues. A Bark and a Meow provides a level of service and care that I would recommend to anyone who needs a great person to care for their pet.
Andrea’s been walking my choc lab mix since she was 8 weeks old and the pup and I couldn’t ahve been happier. She leaves notes daily and will send me a text filling me in on the day. Every now and then I have to work late and Andrea is always willing to come on a minutes notice to feed and let my dog out in the evening. I would recommend this service to anyone!
I searched high and low for a resonably priced dog sitter to watch my dog for two weeks while I was away on business. I have a whippet and he is very neurotic (10 years old, very set in his ways and doesn’t like to be away from me or from home) and he can’t be boarded; we had a couple of bad experiences in the past. I found A Bark and A Meow and Andrea was so helpful!
Every day she wrote notes about her visits, she sent text messages daily and called every other day to let me know how Sergeant was doing. I felt very comfortable with her, and when I got home Sergeant was in great shape! He was happy in his home while I was gone and I was relieved that I finally found someone who I can trust to take care of him if I have to go away.
I would strongly recommend Andrea to anyone looking for pet sitting or walking – she is great!!
When I adopted a shelter puppy a year and half ago. I called many of the “big” dog walking services. Many did not work in the Rogers Park area or did not return my phone calls in a timely manner. I called a Bark and Meow and Andrea was so wonderful. She did 2 puppy walks aday and my baby was potty trained in 2 weeks. She also boards at her home and treats my dog like one of her own. She also is doing daycare in her home which untill I lost my job I was doing because I would pick up my dog and she would be soo tired from playing. I like that she is a smaller operation and I know she cares about all her clients.
Andrea was referred to us by our neighbor in the same building and we were so lucky to stumble upon her. She walks our 11 year old shelter dog once a day, has taken her for a number of overnights, given her massages when her legs ache, and checked up on us (the humans) when we were home sick or ailing. She is like a member of the family.
We are expecting a new member of the family (baby due in Oct.), and she has been so supportive in helping Teedie adjust and is “on call” for when labor begins and we have to head to the hospital.
One of the greatest perks about A Bark and Meow is Andrea picks the dog up and drops her off when we board her at her home. We never have to worry about closing times, or late flights, because we know Andres is taking good care of her.
I could not recommend a dog walker, border or general care taker more. Hope you enjoy A Bark and Meow as much as we have!

A Bark and a Meow is an extremely reliable and invaluable pet service. I can not say enough about how professional and and caring Andrea is for my dog and diabetic cat. She is fabulous about last minute arrangements, flexibility with scheduling, etc. I feeling totally comforted when my animals are in her care, as she provides constant updates and detail notes of each visit. Not having any family in the state, I am so grateful for Andrea’s services!!
I just wanted to let you know how much we appreciated your watching Max for us while we were in Chicago. You were awesome and we definitely would call upon you again whenever we return to Chicago. I especially appreciated your flexibility when I had to change the days due to my “Flaming Lip”, coldsore problem. I hope your ear infection has cleared up as well. That virtigo business is nasty. I don’t know how you were able to dog sit, but again, I can’t thank you enough.

I have to admit, I was hesitant at first, being that I had some bad experiences in the past with dog walkers. But A Bark And A Meow is exceptional! My dogs love their walker and this makes me comfortable while I’m away from home.
I have never had anyone take as good of care of my precious baby as A Bark and Meow did! We had such good reliable care. I honestly would not go anywhere else!
